New Reader? Start here.....

Hello and welcome, I am so glad you have stopped by. My name is Nicolette. I started this blog at the tail end of 2010 as a positive online space for me to share with you the recipes I concoct, the crafts I create, the clothes I wear & the photos I take. Now this is my full time job!

As time went on and this blog became my profession I began to think more carefully about the content  and hone the topics that I blog about. I still share some personal stories but most often you will find recipes, diy & fashion. On occasion you ill also find posts about interiors and photography.

I never stop feeling lucky about the fact that I get to make my passions my job. If I am completely honest it is really hard work. There is a lot on uncertainty and the hours are pretty much 24/7, I almost never clock off and it is not the easy option.  My readership has gone from strength to strength and Archie & the Rug now averages around 180,000 page views per month. This enables me to charge for advertising space on my blog. I also work with partners on sponsored posts such as this series with Jane Means. To find out more about working with Archie & the Rug visit our advertising page.

The blog has also enabled me to find additional sources of income, such as developing recipes for online resources, writing magazine articles and being approached to work as a presenter on Channel 4s Superscrimpers. For examples of my writing visit my press page. To see a few of the tips I have shared on Superscrimpers follow the link, this one, and this third one. To name but a few.

There are so many plans in store for the future of Archie & the Rug. Here is a little secret I am working on my first book with friend and colleague, the very talented and super beautiful Claire Gay. We are both so excited about this. It is hard work, time consuming and publishing is a new and steep learning curve for both of us. Having a new challenge to work on is amazing and I feel really blessed to be sharing this experience with someone else. I have been so used to working by myself that this is a welcome change it is great to have someone to discuss ideas with.

So much happens here and I really hope you enjoy having a cup of tea and biscuit or two whilst you play catch up here and explore Archie & the Rug in full. In the meantime here are a few of my favourite posts to get you started.
