At The Garden Centre

Being British by birth all be it with a more varied bloodline I was raised believing that the garden centre is a day out. It is only after years of traveling and living as an expat that I realised this is not the case around the globe. I am not saying that people in other countries don't go to garden centres but I have been informed that not everyone makes such a day of it. I honestly don't know how to shop for plants without stopping for tea and cake half way through and buying some scented candles and a jigsaw by the tills.

The sun has been coming and going for a couple of months now and there are some very small areas of the garden that are ready for plants. I say small because clearing the triffids out has taken longer than I bargained for and the house has taken priority.

At one point Joe asked if I was going to stare at plant labels quizzically all day, to which I replied, "I'm not doing a quizzical face". Joe then said, "yes you are", "No I'm not", I replied, "this is my quizzical face". And here for your pleasure is what I consider to be my quizzical face, swiftly followed by my can we get this one face and my hmmm I may kill this plant face.

Our local garden centre has an added bonus, fish! They also have a mini shopping trolley, Sebastian loves to push it around and fill it, they love emulating everything you do. We had lots of time to pet the stone animals, say hello to the wooden bear, guy some plants and still had time for the obligatory tea and cake.

It is so amazing to see the wonder and fun that can be had in a simple activity when you look at the world through a toddler's eyes. We have, in the past, spent hours in there, and, as with most activities Sebastian is engrossed and it is I who puts an end to it.

We had a good haul, enough to make a rockery at the bottom of the garden.
