Vegetarian Hotdog Recipe

After all of the rich and exciting food that has been enjoyed over the holidays it is nice to hide from the remainder of the winter and have some simple comfort food. This recipe is great as it makes up to 10 hot dogs so you can leave some in the freezer for a quick meal whilst you play catch up with work. Alternatively you can have one last hurrah at entertaining the masses with a quick easy snack, hell Roosevelt served hot dogs to the king of England so friends over for vegetarian hot dogs will be just fine.

you will need;

250g cannellini beans
300g firm tofu
4tbsp mashed potato
1/2tsp garlic salt
1/2tsp black pepper
1tsp dried herbes de provence
1/2tsp celery powder

method;
  1. Prepare the mash and add the cannellini beans, mash those also.
  2. Place the tofu into a food processor and whiz.
  3. Mix the tofu into the potato & bean mash along with the herbs, garlic salt, black pepper and celery powder.
  4. Form the mixture into hot dog shapes. At this stage you can wrap each hot dog in film and freeze. Alternatively you can chill them in the fridge until it is time to cook them. Either fry them in a little olive oil or take a little olive oil in the palm of your hands and wipe them onto each hot dog before cooking them in an oven at 200C until golden brown.
