Homemade Kahlua - recipe

Now that I have a collection of booze in for cocktails I finally feel like a proper grown up, the mortgage and paying of bills did not help me feel grown up, but this, well this has finally done the trick. Inspired by my passion for making things myself whenever and wherever I can and my other passion saving money I created this recipe. I do have further passions but they are unrelated to this project.

Kahlua is a high end liqueur and never seems to be on offer in the shops. This recipe is not an exact replica of the flavour but it is close enough and tastes great.

you will need;

175mls vodka
3tbsp vanilla extract/flavouring
2 cups of fresh caffeinated coffee
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup water

method;
  1. In a saucepan dissolve the sugar in the water to make a syrup.
  2. Mix the syrup with the coffee and add the vanilla.
  3. Lastly pour this into a bottle with the vodka and mix thoroughly by turning the bottle gently.
  4. This will last the same length of time as any other liqueur.

I hope you enjoy adding it to coffee...I did!

Take Care
