Homemade advent calendar - diy

It is here the first day of advent. I suppose you are thinking it is too late to make a calendar. You are wrong you can make this in the time it takes you to watch a Christmas film and drink a bottle of mulled wine. The beauty of this calendar is it also helps you keep focused on the importance of the season, spending time with one another.

Method;
  1. Write down 24 activities you can do together/as a family or even by yourself (if you want a little alone time) Anything from attend a carol concert to write Christmas cards or watch a film and eat mince pies.
  2. Write each of these down on separate slips of paper.
  3. I chose to use my dymo label maker and scrapbooking paper to create the numbers. You can use anything you like. Using small dinner money envelopes with a tiny drawing of a tree or holly in each corner would work well also.
  4. Next I punched holes at the top of both the numbers and the activity slips. I put braids at the top of the numbers so that they can be easily used next year!
  5. I attached my activity slips to some twisted hazel. They would also look great around a fireplace or simply suspended from a large window recess or banister rail. Learn to use the areas in your home to their full advantage.
