Handmade Fabric Pen Pot - diy

If you are anything like me you are a hoarder you keep things with the hope of doing something new with them so I am constantly trying to think of new and innovative ways to use the things I have saved. I made this pen pot from a duvet cover that had seen better days. I had had this since my student days and it had lots of coffee and food stains on it as my room was the place where everyone hung out to watch films and play computer games. Due to the stains it was impossible to use the fabric as one large piece so I was left having to come up with projects that would work around the stains. One of the things that I made is this fabric pen pot.

To make your own cut lengthy strips of fabric 1/2 inch wide and plait them together. Once you have a few long strips you are ready to assemble the pot. Start by coiling the plaits together. Once you have decided how large the base will be you will need to start placing the plaits on top of one another to raise the height. Keep the whole thing together by placing small stitches every so often. There you have it a pen pot. You can experiment with the shapes and sizes - have fun!
