Goodbye Sam

Last night I had to say goodbye to my doggy Sam a.k.a The Rug. He filled my life with so much joy and fun. When Pete and I first adopted him form the rescue shelter we both took a week off work and spent almost 24/7 looking at him. We turned into those people who just talked about our dog. If Pete had left the room to make tea I would proudly inform him on his return that Sam had just moved his paw and how off the charts cute it was.

I am happy that we managed to rescue him from the shelter and although we didn't get the chance to share his whole life with us we did give him a happy ending.

Until Sam I had always been a cat person. Sam got under my skin in an instant  and opened my heart to dogs. His face and love got me through some of the darkest times of my life. If ever I was crying a furry face and wet nose would soon find its way to my lap. He was and still is my friend and I will always miss him. My life was richer for knowing him.

  1. Reading this made me get tears in my eyes. I had to say goodbye to my pet and best friend a few months ago, we also saved him from the shelter and I am so grateful for all the joy he brought into our lives. Sam is a lucky dog to have had him rescued by you, remember the nice moments!
