A Homespun Wedding - Love Banner

This was one of the quickest and simplest diy projects of the wedding. I wanted something to dress the canapĂ© table that still fitted in with the shabby chic homespun theme.

I chose some fabric scraps from my stash and cut them to size. I then frayed the edges of the cotton slightly to give them a softer edge and look. I then stitched a small channel at the top of each piece, enough to fit ribbon.

I have one piece of fabric per letter in our names and one for the heart; it is up to you how you construct your banner message.

My next job was to choose a font I loved and print out the words Joe and Nic and a cute heart for the centre onto transfer paper. Transfer paper is so much better now than it was years ago. I carefully cut around the letters and the heart and applied them to the fabric using the manufactures instructions.

The paper I used did not require me to print out the text in a mirror image, please check the paper you are using before printing out.

Once the transfers were applied all that was left to do was thread a long ribbon through the top of the fabric and hang it. Easy right? It looked lovely at the reception above the fireplace.
