A surprise summer and art in the outdoors

Last week a wonderful thing happened summer finally came to visit! Weather that took us all by surprise we had heat and sunshine and everyone was happy - including me and my new husband. We went on our first date as old married people. It was such a treat to have time away from work and rain and I even stepped away from the laptop for a little while.

Here I am sitting in the Deer Shelter a commissioned sculpture by artist James Turrell in The Yorkshire Park. His work allows the changing sky to be artwork you sit and enjoy.

My outfit details Top & bag - handmade, jeans - charity shop, sandals Birkenstocks bought online.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park is located next to Bretton Hall college, pictured below. Whenever I see that college I am reminded of the very different path my life could have taken. I had originally applied and been accepted to study Theatre Devised at Bretton Hall (pictured below). After my A levels I instead deferred my place and went travelling. It was then that I decided a life in the theatre was not for me and I went to study sociology instead. There are pivotal moments in all our lives but this one always reminds me of the wonderful people I have met by not studying at Bretton Hall - it was a very pretty college, sadly students no longer study there all of the departments were moved to Leeds.

I love that the sculpture park is so close to me and visit it throughout the year. One of the most amazing aspects of sculpture for me is that depending on the time of day, time of year, the light or the angle you view the piece from you see it differently every time - pure joy. Below are some of my highlights.
