My Granny Square Blanket

The winter months will arrive thick and fast here so I need to start finding some nice winter projects. I find it really nice to have a project I can pick up and put down as it acts as a mice bridge between other projects. Joining my granny squares fits the bill perfectly. I can sit inside watching the snow cuddled up on my sofa with a hot drink making my blanket.

Granny square blankets are bang on trend, shabby chic handmade homes. Here are some images of the look.

And here are some photos of my blanket so far! I used flat briad joining to join my squares, it gives them a really pretty edge.

If you would like to have a go at making a granny square blanket yourself there are some great instructional videos on you tube. A word of advice that took me a while to work out when buying crochet pattern books. In the UK and Australia we use different terminology than America. An American double crochet is what I would call a treble, and a single I would call a double, so take notice of where your pattern is from!

What winter projects do you have planned? Add a link to your projects below.
